The MCD Soft Starters series is designed to manage smooth acceleration and deceleration for a wide range of motor sizes, starting at about 0.
1 kW and extending to 110 kW. Within this range, the smaller MCD 100 handles up to 25 A and offers adjustable ramp times from 0.4 to 10 seconds. The starting torque can be configured as high as 85 %, with an optional short “kick-start” to help move loads with higher inertia. Compact construction and DIN rail mounting make it suitable for panels with limited space. For larger applications, the MCD 201 and MCD 202 extend the series’ capability to 110 kW. These models can supply 4 × Ie for 6 seconds under standard duty, or 4 × Ie for 20 seconds under heavy-duty conditions. Voltage compatibility typically ranges from 200 to 575 V, and both 2-wire and 3-wire control configurations are supported. Integrated bypass contacts reduce power loss during operation, while the overall footprint remains compact enough for straightforward installation. Temperature tolerance is also a notable aspect—many models can operate at ambient conditions up to 50 °C without external cooling, reducing the need for additional components. Connectivity options include Ethernet/IP on certain versions, enabling integration with modern control systems. This makes it possible to bring soft-starting functionality into both new and existing motor control setups without extensive redesign.
