Product Description:
The MCD3075-T5-C21-CV2 soft starter is manufactured by Danfoss for the MCD Soft Starters series and belongs to the VLT Soft Starter MCD product group. Installed between the mains supply and an induction motor, it regulates the voltage applied to the motor during startup and stopping. The controlled voltage ramp reduces inrush current and limits mechanical stress on connected equipment. This operating method is suitable for conveyors, pumps, and similar automated machinery that benefits from smooth acceleration and deceleration.
Its control electronics accept a nominal input of 24 VDC, allowing operation with common control-panel power supplies. The main terminals carry up to 138 A, making the unit suitable for medium-sized motors. An enclosure protection level of IP21 blocks solid objects larger than 12 mm and prevents vertically falling water drops, making the starter suitable for ventilated indoor rooms. The enclosure has a depth of 270 mm and an overall height of 530 mm, while its width is 264 mm. These measurements allow adequate cabinet space to be reserved for the starter and the airflow around it. The assembly withstands impulse transients of 2 kV, while the spacing between live conductors is rated at 1 kV for use with 480 V-class mains supplies. Line-to-ground insulation provides additional protection against transient voltages. Relay outputs are rated at 5 A at 250 VAC or 5 A at 30 VDC for status signaling or bypass contactor control.
The starter has a prospective short-circuit rating of 100 kA, allowing downstream protective devices to clear high-energy faults without compromising the starter enclosure. Electrostatic discharge immunity supports air discharges of 8 kV and contact discharges of 4 kV, helping prevent nuisance trips in dry industrial environments. Radiated radio-frequency fields from 80 MHz to 1 GHz at intensities up to 10 V/m do not disturb normal operation. This immunity supports installation near variable-frequency drives, wireless equipment, and other potential sources of electrical interference.
