Internal Product Review
The 175G5527 is a Danfoss MCD soft starter built for dependable three-phase motor control with a 43 A ampere rating. In-line operation from 10 A to 50 A gives the device strong application flexibility for standard industrial motors. Rated insulation of 690 V AC and 4 kV impulse withstand make the electrical design especially reassuring in demanding panels.

Product Description:
The 175G5527 soft starter is produced by Danfoss and belongs to the MCD Soft Starters series within the VLT Soft Starter MCD product group. Designed for installation on three-phase power circuits, the unit modulates the applied line voltage through phase-controlled SCRs so an induction motor reaches operating speed without high inrush current. In conveyor drives, pumps, and fans, the controlled start limits torque transients, protecting mechanical couplings and extending equipment life in industrial automation systems.
The main continuous current rating is 43 A, which is the maximum RMS current the starter can conduct while the motor operates at full speed. Two AC-53b duty profiles provide application-dependent current limits: 37 A for a 4-20 second start followed by 340 seconds of operation, and 30 A for a 4.5-30 second start followed by 330 seconds of operation. These profiles help match the starter's thermal capacity to the load. Electrical insulation is verified up to 690 V AC, and the SCR assembly can withstand surge overvoltages of 4 kV. An analog output can drive monitoring equipment with loads down to 600 Ω, enabling process controllers to track motor current or ramp status. The starter operates exclusively on three-phase power and has an I²t value of 10,500 A²s for the silicon devices, indicating the energy they can absorb during fault clearing without damage.
In-line connections support motor currents from 10 A to a maximum full-load current of 50 A, while inside-delta wiring supports motor currents from 15 A to 75 A, providing flexibility in panel design. The built-in thermistor input trips at 3.6 kΩ and resets at 1.6 kΩ, allowing the starter to react to motor winding temperature. A relay output rated at 10 A and 250 V AC is available for external alarms or contactor sequencing, and the terminals accept 4 Nm of tightening torque to secure the cabling. The housing weighs 4.5 kg, which supports direct DIN rail or back-panel mounting in compact motor control center sections.
