The ADF Main Spindle Motors from Bosch Rexroth Indramat comprise liquid-cooled 3-phase induction main spindle motors used as main spindle drives and, in some cases, as servo drives in industrial machinery such as tool machines, printing, textile, and plastics injection molding equipment.
When paired with the appropriate drive controllers, the series is designed for broad speed ranges with a field-weakening range up to 1:6, supporting constant-power spindle operation across a wide operating band. For closed-loop control, ADF motors use a motor feedback system that reports rotor position to the drive with very high resolution, enabling precise speed and position regulation across the entire speed range. The platform is built for machine integration with flange mounting (B5/IM B5 orientations), selectable power-connection output directions, and options such as a holding brake (electrically clamped or electrically released) plus an optional B-side shaft extension for mounting an additional encoder when absolute position feedback is required. The motors are maintenance-free by induction design and include practical protection and monitoring features such as liquid-cooling connections, an integrated NTC thermistor for overtemperature protection via the drive, and enclosure protection that can reach IP65 at the output shaft and connection points when the sealed variants are selected.
