AC SuperDrive Motion Units

The AC SuperDrive Motion Units (ACD motor controllers) are compact, rugged AC motor controllers designed for smaller electric vehicles and similar duty applications such as lift trucks, golf carts, traction, lift, and steering.

They are offered in 24/36 VDC and 48 VDC supply versions and can control either a 3-phase induction motor (squirrel-cage) or a permanent-magnet synchronous motor with 1-, 2-, or 4-quadrant operation. Control can be implemented as speed or torque control, with communication via CAN/CANopen or operation directly from analog/digital command inputs, and stator current frequency operation specified from 0 to 250 Hz. The power stage uses selectable switching frequencies of 8, 12, or 16 kHz (with published ratings based on 8 kHz) and integrates vehicle-oriented software configurability and programmable functions such as hill hold, rollback braking, and a performance-curve feature. For industrial vehicle environments, the unit is rated to IP65, operates from approximately −40 °C to +55 °C, uses an AMP SEAL 23-pin connector and M6 power connections, and is specified to applicable standards including EN 1175-1 and UL 583.
