Product Description:
The ACD4805-P2 is a single-axis motion drive from Kollmorgen and belongs to the AC SuperDrive Motion Units series. It regulates torque and speed for brushless AC motors used in material-handling, packaging, and indexing stations that require compact drives mounted close to the actuators. By converting a regulated 48 VDC supply into three-phase output, the unit forms the link between a machine controller and the motor. It executes commands that close the velocity or position loop inside automated equipment.
The drive exchanges control data over the CAN fieldbus, allowing synchronous updates with other axes through a deterministic network. Its input section is rated for a nominal supply of 48 VDC, so the unit can operate from low-voltage battery or rectified supplies without an isolation transformer. The drive supplies 58 A RMS for one hour under continuous thermal loading. Short bursts of up to 175 A RMS for two minutes accommodate rapid acceleration without exceeding semiconductor limits. A cast housing and gasketing provide an IP65 protection class, enabling installation on moving carriages or exposed frames where washdown fluids or dust are present. Motor, encoder, and I/O leads are clamped under M6 power studs, while the electronics stand only 65.8 mm tall to conserve space in shallow cabinets.
The power stage can deliver 3.2 kVA continuously and up to 9.6 kVA for two minutes during overload conditions. Control and sensor wiring connect through an AMP SEAL 23-pin connector that locks against vibration. The aluminum chassis weighs 1.6 kg, making it suitable for end-of-arm or gantry mounting where added mass must remain limited. Its compact profile allows the drive to be positioned near the motor, shortening cable runs and reducing common-mode emissions that can occur with longer leads. The bolted power connections provide a low-resistance current path and help limit terminal heating during maximum output conditions.
