Product Description:
The ACS4808-350F01 is an AC motion drive supplied by Kollmorgen within the AC SuperDrive Motion Units series. It converts fixed mains power into a modulated three-phase output so that plant controllers can adjust motor speed and torque in automated conveyors, packaging machines, and material-handling cells. By integrating the power stage with digital regulation, the unit provides a compact means of executing closed-loop motion functions directly on the machine frame. This arrangement reduces the number of separate control components required near the motor while retaining accurate regulation during acceleration, steady operation, and deceleration.
The drive communicates through the industrial bus CAN (J1939/CANopen), allowing supervisory PLCs to issue commands and monitor status with minimal wiring. Drive behavior is generated by vector control, which resolves real-time current vectors to maintain precise field orientation under changing loads and deliver responsive torque at low speeds. Four selectable modes provide speed, torque, current, or voltage control, allowing the drive to accommodate different motion profiles without external component changes. Onboard I/O and feedback devices connect through the sealed AMPSEAL connector family. Proprietary control algorithms synchronize command updates with carrier modulation to support smooth motor response and stable operation as speed or load conditions change.
Continuous operation is permitted at ambient temperatures up to +55 °C. Cold starts are supported at temperatures as low as -40 °C, allowing mobile or refrigerated equipment to power up without auxiliary heaters. The housing has an IP65 rating, which prevents dust ingress and protects internal circuits against low-pressure water jets. This enclosure supports outdoor and washdown installations in farm machinery and mobile platforms exposed to dust, spray, and vibration. For accurate motion control, the control board accepts incremental, Sin/Cos, or PWM encoder feedback. These feedback options allow the drive to close control loops with induction, permanent-magnet, or hybrid motors while maintaining fine position and speed resolution.
