Product Description:
The ACD4805-W4 is a compact AC motor drive manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AC SuperDrive Motion Units series. Designed as a decentralized motion module, it mounts close to the actuator and converts a low-voltage DC bus into three-phase output for brushless servomotors used in conveyors, packaging lines, and mobile equipment. By integrating power electronics and fieldbus connectivity in a sealed aluminum housing, the unit simplifies installation in distributed automation architectures.
The drive operates from a nominal DC bus of 48 VDC, enabling battery-powered or safety extra-low-voltage installations. Under continuous conditions, it delivers 58 A RMS of phase current and sustains 3.2 kVA of apparent power for one hour. For short acceleration bursts, it can furnish 175 A RMS and 9.6 kVA for up to two minutes, allowing rapid indexing without thermal overload. Current and power are monitored internally so the controller can scale the pulse-width modulation duty cycle to remain within the stated operating limits. Communication occurs through the CAN interface, providing deterministic update rates for coordinated multi-axis motion. An AMP SEAL connector with 23 contacts carries control, feedback, and auxiliary supply lines, while separate M6 bolt studs accept the battery and motor cables.
The enclosure stands only 65.8 mm high, allowing it to fit into tight machine frames while leaving room for airflow around neighboring components. A sealed gasket system and molded cable exits give the unit an ingress protection rating of IP65, so it tolerates dust and low-pressure water jets on the factory floor. With a mass of 1.6 kg, the drive can be fastened directly to moving axes without adding significant inertia. Internal conformal coating permits storage in atmospheres with up to 95% relative humidity. The silicone-lined control gland helps maintain enclosure integrity around the connected cables.
