Product Description:
Kollmorgen supplies the ACD4802-S1, a compact motion unit in the AC SuperDrive Motion Units series. The device is an electronic power stage that modulates DC bus energy for brushless AC servomotors and stepper motors on automated axes. By closing the current loop at the drive, it delivers stable torque and velocity commands from upstream controllers, allowing packaging machines, conveyors, and material-handling stations to maintain repeatable motion profiles.
Its nominal DC link operates at 48 V, so field wiring can use low-voltage power supplies while still supporting medium-power servo tasks. During continuous operation, the current regulator sustains up to 23 A RMS, which is the thermal limit that can be maintained for one hour without additional cooling. The inverter can deliver 1.3 kVA of electrical output for the same duty period, matching the requirements of small-frame motors. Command and diagnostic data move over the CAN interface, simplifying integration with distributed motion controllers. The enclosure has an IP65 protection rating, so it resists dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. Power conductors attach through rugged M6 bolts that help keep high-current joints secure under vibration.
For short, high-demand maneuvers, the drive permits up to 70 A RMS for two minutes, giving axes the headroom needed for rapid acceleration or peak cutting forces. During the same transient period, the power stage can deliver 3.9 kVA, helping prevent voltage sag when motors draw elevated current. With a profile height of 61.3 mm, the unit fits shallow control cabinets and can be installed beside other SuperDrive modules without obstructing airflow. The aluminum housing and internal components weigh 1.4 kg, reducing the mounting load on overhead robots and mobile platforms while making the unit easier to handle during installation and maintenance.
