The 18446-13A is a compact motion controller from Kollmorgen released within the AC SuperDrive Motion Units series. Designed as the control core for automated guided vehicles and distributed servo platforms, the unit coordinates navigation sensors, feedback devices, and field networks to synchronize drive axes and auxiliary actuators. By running a Linux operating system on a 32-bit RISC processor, it executes path planning, I/O handling, and safety logic to keep material-handling or assembly equipment moving within established tolerances.
Its housing measures 125 × 50 × 195 mm, allowing direct placement in confined electrical panels. The electronics accept a direct-current supply of 24 to 48 V, so the same low-voltage bus that powers sensors can energize the board. The IP65 enclosure is dust-tight and resists low-pressure water jets, supporting vehicle-mounted or production-floor operation. Reliable startup across a temperature range of -20 to +55 °C allows the logic to remain functional in refrigerated warehouses and warm workshops. Maximum power consumption remains below 5 W, reducing the heat load and allowing passive convection to serve as the sole cooling method.
The controller has 11 analog inputs with a 0.2–11.0 V range for sensor transducers, while 12 digital inputs monitor switches and proximity devices. Six incremental or absolute feedback channels are provided through the 6 encoder inputs, enabling synchronized multi-axis control. Output capability includes 16 sourcing lines for solenoids or indicator lamps. Network ports support WLAN, LAN, CAN, and RS-232/422/485 connections for communication with other automation devices. When mobile platforms require alternate charging or braking profiles, the extended bus tolerance of 16.8 to 72 V allows the unit to ride through battery sag and regenerative peaks.
