The ACS4810-350F drive is produced by Kollmorgen within the AC SuperDrive Motion Units series. It is a low-voltage inverter designed to control three-phase induction motors in mobile and stationary industrial automation equipment. Powered by a 48 VDC bus, the unit generates a regulated three-phase output while monitoring current, voltage, and temperature. Its regenerative braking stage returns kinetic energy to the power supply during deceleration, reducing reliance on an external braking resistor and helping the connected motor stop promptly.
During steady operation, the drive supplies a continuous one-hour current of 150 Arms, corresponding to an electrical output of 8.3 kVA at the rated bus voltage. For brief acceleration demands, the motor current can increase to 350 Arms for up to two minutes, providing additional output for loads that require temporary starting or acceleration torque. A finned heat sink and integrated blower move air through the chassis at 6 m/s, helping the power semiconductors remain within their permitted temperature range during continuous and peak operation. Protection circuits tolerate bus-voltage excursions up to 67.2 VDC and maintain control down to 24 VDC. The output is disabled 150 milliseconds after a stop command to protect the motor and connected machinery.
The enclosure has an IP54 protection rating, limiting dust ingress and protecting the drive against splashing water when it is mounted correctly. Communication with the machine controller occurs through a CANopen network, allowing the drive to receive motion commands and transmit operating data.
