The Beckhoff IL Coupler Box Units series is an IP67 fieldbus I/O platform designed to connect distributed signals directly at the machine level while supporting expansion through the Beckhoff IP-Link optical fiber system.
These units function as coupler boxes that can automatically detect connected extension boxes at startup and combine them into a single fieldbus device image, eliminating the need for separate configuration of the extension network. The series supports a broad range of industrial signal types and uses rugged field connections, with separate control and load voltage handling to suit different I/O requirements. In the IL230x versions, communication is handled over EtherNet/IP with 10/100 MBaud Ethernet, star topology cabling, and process data capacity of up to 512 bytes of input and 512 bytes of output data. The series is built for decentralized automation applications that need protected field installation, scalable remote I/O expansion, and direct integration between field devices and the control network.
