Product Description:
The IL2300-B510-0000 is an I/O coupler box produced by Beckhoff within the IL Coupler Box Units series. It serves as a decentralized gateway that collects sensor signals and distributes actuator commands directly on the machine, then forwards the data to a controller over a fieldbus. By bringing signal conversion and circuit protection close to the process, the device reduces cabinet wiring and supports flexible expansion in automated assembly and material-handling lines.
It provides 4 digital inputs for limit switches or proximity sensors and 4 digital outputs for coils, lamps, or relays, allowing equal inbound and outbound capacity at each station. The internal bus uses IP-Link to transport communication and power to downstream modules, while the higher-level network interface uses CANopen for integration with widely adopted PLC platforms. Because the unit is not programmable, parameter settings remain in the master controller, reducing the number of maintenance steps required at the field station. Field devices connect through 8 mm snap-on terminals that lock without tools, allowing wiring to be secured in confined installation areas. The housing is only 26.5 mm deep and 30 mm wide, so it can fit between aluminum profiles or inside narrow guarding channels where installation space is limited.
The unit has a height of 175 mm, leaving space for status LEDs and the sealed cable chamber while maintaining a slim profile. A single head station can cascade up to 120 extension boxes, allowing large installations to operate without additional fieldbus nodes. Its IP65/IP66/IP67 protection rating permits direct mounting on conveyors exposed to washdown conditions or dust. The body is molded from PA6 polyamide, and the internal circuits are encapsulated in polyurethane potting to damp vibration during machine operation. Nickel-plated brass hardware and CuZn gold-plated contacts resist corrosion in industrial environments. Two M3 fixing holes allow the enclosure to be attached directly to a panel or structural profile without a separate mounting plate.
