The IL2301-B900-0000 industrial coupler box is produced by Beckhoff within the IL Coupler Box Units series. Designed as a decentralized interface, it links field devices directly to an Ethernet control network, allowing sensors and actuators to be wired at the machine without control-cabinet I/O modules. By translating on-machine signals into the format recognized by Beckhoff controllers, the unit streamlines installation and shortens cable runs in automated assembly lines, conveyors, and material-handling cells.

Signal exchange is carried over an RJ45 bus connector, and the primary fieldbus uses Ethernet TCP/IP. The unit also supports Fast Modbus TCP, allowing cyclical data from its four digital inputs and four digital outputs to reach the PLC with low latency. Output switching takes place through high-side drivers rated for 24 V logic. Integrated LEDs indicate the state of each channel and support quick diagnostics during operation. The sensor and actuator lines enter through the sealed IP65/66/67 housing and terminate through an M8 threaded signal connection, eliminating the need for extra junction boxes. The compact enclosure can be installed directly on tooling arms, pick-and-place end effectors, or mobile conveyors.

Mechanical durability is enhanced by a polyurethane casting compound that seals the electronics against shock and vibration. The outer shell is molded from PA6, while the exposed metal inserts are made of nickel-plated brass to resist corrosion in washdown areas. The box has two M3 mounting holes for attachment to panels, frames, or rotating fixtures, and it can be installed in any orientation without affecting performance. Gold-plated CuZn contacts maintain low contact resistance over thousands of mating cycles. The materials and mounting arrangement support use on moving equipment where the enclosure may be inverted or attached to a vertical spindle.
