The IL2301-B400-0000 is an I/O coupler box produced by Beckhoff within the IL Coupler Box Units series. This compact field component links discrete sensors and actuators to the higher-level controller and consolidates several signal types into one distributed module for machine-mounted installation in industrial automation layouts. Its decentralized form lets the unit sit close to field devices, which helps keep local wiring short and supports installation directly on production equipment.

The module exchanges process data over the Interbus network, so it can be placed directly on a machine line without additional gateways. It provides 4 DI / 4 DO points, giving four digital inputs for status detection and four digital outputs for device actuation in a single enclosure. Field wiring is performed through a M8 bolted connection, which secures plug-in sensor cables against vibration and accidental disconnection. A housing made of PA6 (polyamide) withstands common industrial solvents while keeping weight low. Sealed gaskets and molded joints provide an IP65/66/67 ingress rating, so the box resists dust, high-pressure water jets, and temporary immersion without requiring an added cabinet on the production floor.

An integrated tee connector on the bus line lets additional IL devices be daisy-chained without external T-pieces, which helps reduce wiring volume along the machine. Internal electronics are encapsulated in Polyurethane, a casting compound that cushions components from shock and helps dissipate heat. Signal pins use CuZn, gold-plated contacts to reduce contact resistance and corrosion over many mating cycles. Two mounting flanges drilled for 2 x M3 screws let the unit be fixed to plates, rails, or brackets. The coupler can be installed in any orientation, allowing placement where cable runs are shortest.
