The 8V1320.00-2 is a three-phase servo inverter produced by B&R Automation for the 8V1 ACOPOS Servo Drives series. In multi-axis machinery, it converts AC mains power into a regulated output for controlling permanent-magnet motors. This output allows accurate velocity and position control in packaging, material-handling, and assembly equipment. The inverter can coordinate rapid motion changes while maintaining stable motor operation under varying mechanical loads.
For dynamic duty cycles, the unit can deliver a continuous phase current of 34 A rms, while short bursts of up to 80 A rms accommodate rapid acceleration without overloading the output stage. Its power section is rated at 16 kW and operates at a carrier frequency of 10 kHz, which helps keep current ripple low across an upper output frequency of 598 Hz. The DC link becomes active when the internal bus reaches 455 VDC. During startup, the inverter draws 13 A from the mains, while the supply sees an installed load of 30 kVA under steady operating conditions. A built-in brake chopper connects to an external braking resistor to dissipate regenerated energy during motor deceleration. The drive supports motor cables up to 25 m long without additional filters, preserving torque response across the permitted cable run.
The 24 V control rail has an input capacitance of 40,000 µF, providing stored energy for the inverter’s control electronics. The DC bus uses 1,645 µF of film capacitance to smooth voltage fluctuations caused by regenerated energy. When the brake chopper cannot immediately dissipate all excess power, this capacitance helps protect the power semiconductors and sustain the control logic. The auxiliary output can supply 0.5 A to connected field I/O, and an internal 12 A fuse disconnects the converter during an overcurrent fault. A minimum braking resistance of 15 Ω keeps the chopper transistor within its permitted thermal range. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating for cabinet installation and weighs 10.6 kg, allowing secure mounting in an industrial control panel.
