Product Description:
The 8V1016.001-2 belongs to the 8V1 ACOPOS Servo Drives series manufactured by B&R Automation. As a compact drive controller, it interfaces between a machine’s motion control system and a three-phase servo motor, converting DC-bus energy into precisely timed switching patterns that regulate torque, speed, and position. The unit supports distributed architectures in which multiple axes share a common DC link, making it suitable for packaging stations, pick-and-place gantries, and other industrial automation applications that require coordinated, high-performance motion.
The power stage delivers a continuous phase current of 1.6 A RMS, while short duty cycles can draw up to 5 A RMS for rapid acceleration or sudden load changes. Pulse-width modulation occurs at a nominal switching frequency of 10 kHz, helping keep current ripple and acoustic noise low. Internal thermal management must dissipate 110 W of power loss under rated load, so heat sinks and cabinet airflow should be sized accordingly. Energy storage on the intermediate circuit is provided by a DC-bus capacitance of 165 µF. The auxiliary 24 V line also has 5,600 µF of capacitance to help keep the control electronics active during brief mains power dips.
The drive has a maximum output frequency of 598 Hz, allowing high-speed motors or gearless direct-drive axes to operate efficiently. The connected load is rated at 2.1 kVA, which helps determine appropriate fuse sizes and supply cable cross sections. Three plug-in module slots permit expansion with encoder interfaces, fieldbus couplers, or additional input and output modules. The housing has an IP20 protection rating and is intended for installation inside a switchgear enclosure. Motor leads may extend up to 15 m without exceeding the applicable voltage-drop or electromagnetic-interference limits, and the complete assembly weighs 2.5 kg, which helps simplify panel layout and installation.
