The SERVOSTAR MC series is a multi-axis motion controller built around SERCOS fiber-optic communications, providing deterministic cyclic exchange of position/velocity commands and feedback (including 32-bit velocity commands) with update rates as fast as 1 ms.
It replaces analog command/feedback wiring with a two-fiber ring to reduce wiring complexity and improve noise immunity and grounding robustness in high-power servo environments. The platform runs on a real-time operating system with a dedicated controller CPU and is available as a PC plug-in card or as a stand-alone industrial module. Motion logic is developed in MC-BASIC with support for interpolated motion, gearing, camming, multi-tasking, and event-driven execution. Standard hardware includes optically isolated digital I/O plus additional drive I/O carried over SERCOS, with expansion available via PC-104 cards and host communications via Ethernet/serial and a Windows API for PC integration.
