Product Description:

Kollmorgen’s Servostar MC is a reputable product line known for manufacturing the most reliable multi-axis controllers. Products under the Servostar MC series may come in different configurations depending on the design. MCSS products like the MCSS23-6432-002 are some of Kollmorgen’s most celebrated controllers, featuring Sercos communication and standalone configuration. With Sercos communication, this controller can interface with other automation devices in real time to provide precise synchronization in motion systems. Multi-axis controllers are ideal for controlling multiple motors and drives simultaneously. Depending on the controller design, the number of controllable axes may vary. For the MCSS23-6432-002, particularly, up to 23 axes can be controlled simultaneously at any time.

As a standalone product, the MCSS23-6432-002 comes with 23 isolated inputs, 20 isolated outputs, and 5 status LEDs. Furthermore, it comes with 8 dip switches and an NVRAM for rapid storage of user data. Optionally, the MCSS23-6432-002 may be bought alongside two expansion cards. The firmware for this product is supplied on the flash disk and comes with the BASIC Moves Development Studio for modifying and debugging the control program. To set up the connected drives for this standalone controller, Motionlink software may be used. The drive setup, however, must be done from the host computer associated with this controller.

In terms of communication, the MCSS23-6432-002 offers up to two RS232 ports for user-defined inputs, one 10 Mbps ethernet port, and a fieldbus option card for remote I/O. The MCSS23-6432-002 has a RAM size of 64 Mbyte and a flash disk size of 32 Mbyte. Regardless of the number of controllable axes for this product, there are only two SERCOS fiber-optic connectors between the device and other drive amplifiers.
