The S6002 is a 2 axis micro-stepping drive from the Kollmorgen manufacturer. It is a small device that features a motor current settings ranging from 0 to 6 amps which can be selected by means of a dial. The inductance setting for this drive runs between 2 and 60 mH per phase. One can select motor resolutions between 200 to 25,400 steps per revolution which can be selected via the dial which allows for eight different selections within the range.
The Kollmorgen S6002 micro stepping drive unit allows you to select the waveform from a pure sine or there is the option of 4% 3rd harmonic. This allows the end-user to get the best in step accuracy and smoothness. There is a feature for reducing motor and drive heating which is made possible through a selectable auto standby current reduction. There is also the anti-resonance compensation which helps the drive to provide more torque for usage. On the front panel of the device, adjustments can be made for phase offsets and motor inductance.
The S6002 features a selectable step input format for CCW and CW as well as for step and direction. It allows for regenerative applications thanks to an internal power dump. There are a total of 16 settings with a rotary inductance setting switch to move in multiples of 4 mH. This Kollmorgen micro stepping drive unit will operate motors that have inductance to a maximum of 100 mH per phase. This will still limit dynamic performance when using high inductance motors. The S6002 micro stepping drive unit can be used with an IDC supplied step motor or with other types of step motors as well.
