DMC Motion Controllers

The DMC Motion Controllers series is an integrated digital motion-control module that combines a servo control section with a power converter/inverter stage to regulate motor torque, speed, position, and acceleration while also coordinating digital and analog machine I/O.

Resolver-based feedback is used for commutation and closed-loop speed/position measurement, and the design supports an additional resolver input for master/slave tracking applications. Motion functions are executed through a combined position-and-speed PID regulator with feedforward and programmable limits, plus an internal positioning unit that includes a profile generator, electronic gearbox functionality, counters, and timers. The platform supports single- and multi-axis architectures, including versions with an integral AC-to-DC supply and versions that share a common DC bus from another unit or a stand-alone supply, with regenerative energy handled by a dynamic brake (shunt/bleeder) circuit. Built-in enable/ready interlocks and monitoring—such as short-circuit detection, DC-bus overvoltage supervision, logic-supply undervoltage supervision, and drive/motor temperature handling—are paired with serial communications options like RS-232/RS-422, daisy-chain/sync links, and optional CAN connectivity for commissioning and control.
