The DMC2 50412P is a drive stage supplied by Danaher as part of the DMC Motion Controllers series. It sits between a plant’s 400-volt mains supply and the servo motor windings, shaping the power so that position, velocity, and torque commands from a higher-level controller are executed accurately. Its role in industrial automation is to provide regulated three-phase currents that keep machinery synchronized and responsive during continuous or cyclic production.
During steady operation, the amplifier delivers 4 A of continuous phase current, which indicates how much current the power stage can supply without thermal overload. Transient events can draw up to 12 A, providing additional acceleration torque without requiring a larger frame. Energy is taken from a 570 VDC bus that is replenished by an input rectifier connected to a three-phase 400 VAC supply, so the cabinet must provide adequate clearance and protective devices for this high voltage. Internal IGBTs switch at 4 kHz, keeping current ripple low while balancing switching losses. A minimum motor inductance of 10 mH keeps this ripple within acceptable limits.
