Product Description:

Kollmorgen corporation is an industry leader in designing and providing technology-based products for motion control systems. Their products can be found in many major industries which includes robotics, medical, aerospace and defense. Kollmorgen products are known for their performance and quality. Their products include servo motors, servo amplifiers, servo drives and embedded PCs. The S700 series is the digital servo amplifier series by Kollmorgen.

The S700 series are reliable, robust and high-quality products. The S70601-NA is part of the S700 series of digital servo amplifiers. This servo amplifier has a current rating of 6 Arms and a voltage rating of 208-480V. It comes with a standard single-channel STO. The S70601-NA has CANopen and EtherCAT on board and has no expansion card in Slot 1. All the shielding connections are made directly to the amplifier while the fusing has to be provided by the user. The output stage has an IGBT module with floating current measurements. The S70601-NA has a brake circuit with a dynamic distribution of the power regenerated between the amplifiers on the same DC bus link circuit. It has standard brake resistors. External brake resistors can be used if required.

The S70601-NA has several safety features which include phase-failure protection, overvoltage detection, short-circuit protection and soft start. The temperature monitoring of the motor can also be done by this digital servo amplifier given that compatible motors are used. This amplifier also has appropriate insulations and electrical isolation to ensure safe electrical separation according to IEC 61800-5-1 between the motor connection/power input and signal electronics. It also has an integrated single-channel safe stop feature that can be initiated in case of an emergency.

Fault code (LED) What the drive is telling you First corrective actions
F01 – Heat-sink over-temp The internal heat-sink has climbed above ≈ 80 °C and the power stage is shut down Improve cabinet airflow, clean fan/vents, verify the fan is running, and keep ambient ≤ 40 °C
F02 – DC-bus over-voltage Regeneration or high mains pushed the bus beyond its limit Add/verify braking resistor, slow decel ramps, check mains setting
F03 – Following-error limit Actual position deviated beyond PEMAX window Inspect mechanics for jams, retune loop gains, widen error window if safe
F04 – Feedback fault Encoder/resolver signal missing, shorted or noisy Check feedback cable & shield, verify feedback type, replace encoder if needed
F05 – DC-bus under-voltage Mains sagged or phase lost while enabled Confirm 3-phase feed & fuses, respect “power-on → ENABLE” delay, inspect contactor
F06 – Motor over-temperature PTC/thermistor inside motor tripped or defective Improve motor cooling, reduce load, test sensor, verify MAXTEMPM parameter
F07 – Internal voltage fault One logic rail out of tolerance Remove external 24 V loads, check 24 V supply, send drive for service if fault persists
F08 – Overspeed Actual velocity exceeded VOSPD limit Verify commanded speed/gearing, inspect feedback wiring, raise limit only after checks
F14 – Output-stage fault IGBT bridge short or shorted motor lead detected Meg-ohm test motor/cable, inspect for shorts, return drive for repair if bridge is damaged
F23 – CAN-bus OFF Severe CANopen communication error Verify bus wiring & 120 Ω terminators, check baud rate & node-ID conflicts
