The S406AM-CA servo amplifier features a rated supply voltage of 230V to 400V, a maximum installed of 7kVA for S1 operation, and a 450V overvoltage switch-off threshold. It weighs 3kg and measures 100mm x 267mm x 240mm, uses a vertical mounting position, and provides ample forced ventilation to maintain a temperature of 45 degrees in the control cabinet. Leave ample clearance beneath the amplifier for optimum cooling. An additional fan can be used if the amplifier is used in unfavorable ambient conditions. Ensure there is a conductive connection to the mounting plate.

This Kollmorgen S400 amplifier has a master module function and a current rating of 6Arms. It comes integrated with safety features such as temperature monitoring for both the motor and the amplifier, phase-failure monitoring, short-circuit protection, soft-start, and overvoltage detection. The S406AM-CA features a complete digital control thanks to encoder emulation, digital current controller, a digital speed controller that is programmable, and a position controller. It has an IP 20 protection class. A control cabinet should be provided to protect it from extrinsic objects and liquids. Ambient conditions are a relative humidity of 95%, installation elevation of 1000 meters above sea level, and an operating temperature range of 0 to 45 degrees.

The S406AM-CA comes with an LED display that shows the status of the amplifier.  Some of the parameters displayed are master address, reset input active, supply status, and axis module. Since this is a master module, ensure that less than 7 axis modules are connected. The integrated feedback systems, motor holding brake, and thermal sensors must be reinforced using insulation against system components. To avoid electrical shock, ensure the S406AM-CA is securely earthed to the protective earth busbar.
