Kollmorgen is a multi-national corporation that produces motion devices for the automation industry. Kollmorgen provides a wide portfolio of technologies such as linear actuators, servo drives, AGV components and motion controllers. It has gained a remarkable position in the worldwide market. The S406BA-SE is one of the SERVOSTAR 400 servo drives for automation. This model is meant to control linear motors, asynchronous motors, or servomotors.

This modular SERVOSTAR 400 offer is composed of Master Modules, that are used to control one motor and to convert power and share the DC bus to the complete rack. Axis modules can control one motor and are meant to be mounted sequentially after the Master Module (up to 7 Axis Module can be supported by one Master module). The S406BA-SE is an Axis Module and offers no power supply. This servodrive can sustain a rated current of 6000 milliampere and is able to generate a maximum current of 12 ampere for no longer than 5 seconds. The drive can be attached to an external device with its SERCOS communication card.

The temperature of the environment near the S406BA-SE has to be kept in the following range: 32… 104 degrees Fahrenheit when the S406BA-SE is on. It should be maintained in the following range while the equipment is not operating: -13… 131 degrees Fahrenheit. This servodrive supports many different type of feedbacks from a motor, such as incremental encoder (SubD 15 poles) or a resolver (SubD 9 poles). The device also provides the user 4 digital programmable inputs and 2 digital programmable outputs.

The model should be placed in sites according to IEC 60664-1 pollution grade 2 meaning that only non-conductive alteration may happen.
