The VLT 2900 series was designed around space-constrained applications where panel real estate comes at a premium.
Power coverage spans from 0.55 up to 18.5 kW for standard three-phase 380-480V installations. Lower voltage options include 0.37 to 1.5 kW units that work with either single-phase or three-phase 200-240V supplies, plus dedicated three-phase models from 2.2 to 3.7 kW in the same voltage range. All configurations handle ±10% voltage variations and run on either 50 or 60 Hz mains frequency. Efficiency hits 98% across the range, which helps keep heat generation down in tight panel layouts. The IP55 enclosure rating means these drives handle typical industrial environments without additional protection - dust and water ingress aren't much of a concern. Operating temperature range goes from -10°C up to 50°C at full load, though they'll run at 60°C if the current gets derated appropriately. Standard equipment includes brake resistors built into every model, so there's no need to size and mount external units for most stopping applications. The PID controller handles basic process control without requiring separate modules. Communication options cover PROFIBUS DP V1 running at 12 Mbit/s and DeviceNet up to 500 kbit/s, which covers most fieldbus requirements in industrial settings. Circuit boards come with protective coating from the factory, which helps in environments where airborne contaminants might cause problems.
