The TDA Main Spindle Controllers are modular digital AC spindle drive controllers designed to run Indramat asynchronous main spindle motors in the 2AD family as well as 1MB frameless spindle motors for CNC machine tools.
They are built for high stiffness and a wide constant-power speed range, making them well suited for demanding spindle applications on machining centers. The series includes an internal position control function that can automatically orient the spindle for tasks like tool or workpiece change, using either the motor feedback (direct/1:1 drive) or an additional spindle encoder input for belt or geared spindles. In C-axis operation, the controller can run the spindle as an interpolating servo axis with high-resolution position control and can provide incremental encoder-style position signals to the CNC with selectable scaling for low-speed accuracy. Commissioning is parameter-based with machine and motor matching values stored on a plug-in programming module, and the platform supports multiple speed command interfaces including analog, 16-bit parallel digital, or a SERCOS interface for real-time exchange of command/actual values and parameter handling.
