The KDV supply modules are mains-connected power supplies for the INDRAMAT modular AC drive system, intended for direct connection to 3-phase 380 to 460 VAC (50/60 Hz) and used to feed multiple connected spindle and servo drive modules from a common DC link.
Internally, the unit uses a controlled three-phase bridge to rectify the AC mains and buffer capacitors to smooth the DC link, and it can operate with regenerative feedback so braking or generator energy is returned to the mains with low loss. When the mains is switched off or fails, regenerated braking energy is handled through the link circuit and can be dissipated through a parallel bleeder path to protect the DC link, while the electronics can remain powered from the DC link voltage to support controlled shutdown behavior. The KDV also supplies the low-voltage rails needed by the drive system, including +24 V load voltage and ±15 V measuring voltages for connected modules, with control and monitoring functions communicated over the signal voltage bus and a “Bb1” readiness contact that must close before powering down is permitted. Application features described in the manual include controlled DC link voltage for stable drive dynamics during mains undervoltage, a charging-current limit that reduces inrush demands on upstream switching devices, and configurable responses to power-feed faults using the NCB bridge together with status contacts such as UD (power feed working) and TVW (temperature pre-warning).
