Product Description:
The S30301-NA is an AC servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the S300 Servo Drives series. As a closed-loop amplifier, it receives command signals from a motion controller. It regulates current and voltage to matched servo motors, allowing precise speed and torque control in automated machinery such as packaging lines, pick-and-place stations, and printing equipment.
This drive accepts a three-phase mains range of 208 to 480 V and converts that input into a regulated DC link that can reach 900 VDC. At the motor terminals, it delivers a peak phase current of 7.5 Arms, while its continuous rated current is 3 A rms. The power section switches at 8 kHz, and when motor load falls to half, the carrier frequency can be raised to 16 kHz to lower acoustic noise. A built-in CANopen interface links the S30301-NA to supervisory PLCs, so parameter changes and diagnostics travel over a single fieldbus. Functional safety is addressed with an STO input that removes gate signals to the IGBTs without cycling mains power. An internal 91 Ω brake resistor absorbs 50 W of regenerative energy, and a residual DC drop of 5 V keeps control electronics referenced during coastdown. Up to 30 start-stop cycles per hour are permitted within the 2.5 kVA input rating, which helps limit thermal stress on the switching devices.
The aluminum housing stands 279 mm tall, 70 mm wide, and 171 mm deep, enabling side-by-side cabinet mounting with minimal footprint. Under rated load, the inverter dissipates 60 W, falling to 12 W when the output stage is disabled, and these figures guide enclosure cooling calculations. Maximum noise emission is 45 dB(A), so additional acoustic shielding is usually unnecessary. Mechanical clearances allow the internal fan to maintain airflow, and the STO function remains available regardless of ambient temperature, provided the cabinet heat rise keeps semiconductor junctions within limit.
