The S30301-NA-SB is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the S300 Servo Drives series. Designed to convert AC mains into controlled three-phase output, the unit regulates velocity and torque for brushless motors used in packaging lines, material-handling axes, and general automation. It mounts on a DIN rail inside a control panel and communicates with a host controller to execute precise motion profiles.

It accepts a line supply from 208 to 480 V and draws a rated 3 A rms under nominal load, while the internal power stage can deliver up to 7.5 A rms during dynamic peaks. Average energy demand is limited by a throughput of 2.5 kVA, which helps with upstream breaker and wiring sizing. The drive switches the DC link at a carrier frequency of 8 kHz; if lower acoustic noise is needed, a reduced-current operating mode at 16 kHz is also available. CANopen is onboard for cyclic setpoint exchange and diagnostics, and a residual voltage drop of 5 V keeps bus bars within safe touch limits during isolation tests. Input protection is provided by a 3.15 AT auxiliary fuse, and the logic permits up to 30 switching cycles per hour to accommodate indexing duty.

The DC link is rated for 900 VDC, so regeneration from rapid deceleration can be absorbed without overvoltage trips. An internal brake resistor of 91 Ω dissipates 50 W continuously, while external shunts up to 1.0 kW can be connected when higher kinetic energy must be handled. Functional safety is handled by the dedicated input labeled STO, which disables torque without opening the mains contactor. Installation space is minimized by a front width of 70 mm and a depth of 171 mm, allowing tight packing on DIN rails. Mains protection uses a 6 AT fuse on the AC supply, and the thermal design maintains component temperatures within acceptable limits during sustained operation.
