Product Description:

Rexroth Indramat manufactures the HVE02.1-W018N 2nd generation power supply unit. It is part of the drive system where it is used to supply electricity to HDD and HDS drive controllers. It allows the operation of several drive controllers simultaneously. The power rectifier in the HVE02.1-W018N provides unregulated DC bus voltage by rectifying the 3-phase AC voltage from the mains supply. It can run in a generator mode where it produces heat via a bleed resistor. You can use it to shut down motors with a permanent magnet energizing by the short-circuit bus. Thanks to the integrated monitoring functions, it monitors and optimizes the drive system.

The HVE02.1-W018N can only be used with the accessories and parts specified by Rexroth Indramat. It should be operated under installation and ambient conditions which are a maximum installation height of 1000 meters above sea level, ambient storage, and operating temperatures of -30 to 85 degrees and 5 to 45 degrees respectively. The permissible relative humidity is capped at 95% without condensation. The power loss characteristics include basic losses of 125 kW, 250 W loss at the maximum continuous output, and 7 W/kW power losses per kW DC bus continuous power.

The HVE02.1-W018N features a weight of 13 kg and an IP 10 protection category. The input voltage ranges between 3 x 380 … 480 V and the frequency range is between 50 and 60 Hz. Ensure that the air within the control cabinet is free of dirt. It is possible to connect DC bus chokes of the GLD type to the HVE02.1-W018N to increase the DC bus continuous power. You can connect the HZK  capacitance module to reduce heat loss and to increase the power in case of power failure.

Fault/Error What It Means Corrective Action
Undervoltage on DC Bus DC link voltage is below operating range Check incoming AC supply, inspect rectifier module, and verify mains voltage
Overvoltage on DC Bus Excessive voltage detected across DC link Confirm proper braking resistor operation or load characteristics
Control Voltage Failure 24V control supply is missing or unstable Inspect control transformer or power supply unit and verify fuse integrity
No Ready Signal Output Module not transitioning to “Ready” state Ensure proper wiring of control logic and check internal diagnostics
Inverter Will Not Power On Drive inverter not receiving DC bus power Confirm HVE module output and cabling, and inspect fuse and relay status
LED Diagnostic Indicates Fault Front panel LEDs flashing or red Decode LED blink code and cross-check with Bosch documentation for root cause
Fan Not Operating Cooling fan inactive during operation Inspect fan for blockage, clean dust, or replace defective unit
Excessive Heat Overheating detected from enclosure or housing Improve cooling, check ambient temperature, and clean ventilation
Regenerative Feedback Error Energy returned to HVE not properly dissipated Check brake resistor sizing and wiring
Ground Fault Detected Leakage current or ground imbalance reported Inspect grounding connections and insulation resistance of connected components

Code Meaning / Condition
16 Soft-start fault – DC-bus cannot charge (possible short-circuit, missing choke, or contactor issue).
18 Heatsink over-temperature – Unit shut down due to excessive internal temperature.
20 Bleeder overload – Regenerated power or rotary energy exceeds bleeder capacity.
69 +24 V / ±15 V / +5 V fault – Control-voltage rails outside tolerance or shorted.
80 Ground fault – Earth leak or short in supply unit, drive, motor, or cabling.
81 Power failure – One or more mains phases missing.
82 Phase fault – Phase loss or mains voltage too low on at least one phase.
83 Mains-voltage fault – Supply voltage above permissible window (HVE trips on high line voltage).
87 Control-voltage supply failure – 24 V auxiliary supply out of tolerance (HVE-specific).
94 EPROM fault / checksum error – Internal memory error; power-cycle, then replace if fault persists.

Frequently Asked Questions about HVE02.1-W018N:

Q: Can the HVE02.1-W018N be used without an external cooling unit?

A: It is possible to operate the HVE02.1-W018N without an external cooling unit, however in this case, the power supply unit should should be installed in a control cabinet that has enough space so that air circulation within the cabinet can be generated.

Q: When should the HVE02.1-W018N be operated with a transformer?

A: A transformer is required if the mains volatge coming into the power supply unit is less than 380V or greater than 480V. The transformer power must be greater or or equal to the incoming power. The transformer can be ordered as a separate accessory.

Q: How does the HVE02.1-W018N communicate operational error to the operator?

A: The HVE02.1-W018N features an H1 diagnostic display which it uses to communicate operational error to the end user through special error codes. The meaning of the error code showed on this display can be found in the documentation supplied with the device.

Q: Is the HVE02.1-W018N suitable for residential applications?

A: The HVE02.1-W018N can be used in residential applications. However, suitable interference suppression filters must be installed in the mains supply line in the machine. Also, the motor power cable should be routed in a shielded manner.

Q: How often should the HVE02.1-W018N be cleaned?

A: The accumulation of dirt and other foreign particles can interfare with the smooth operation of the HVE02.1-W018N. It is recommended that the casing of this device is cleaned at least once a year.
