The 8LVB Gear Motors are compact motor/gearbox assemblies from B&R Automation that mount the gearbox directly to the motor to reduce space, weight, and moving mass in servo-driven machinery.
They are designed for high acceleration and responsive motion by pairing a low-inertia servo motor with a planetary gearbox, with typical system sizing aimed up to about 1 kW depending on the DC-bus class and drive selection. The series is available with either a resolver feedback option or a fully digital EnDat 2.2 encoder interface that supports absolute positioning and stores motor data for compatible drive commissioning. Gearhead options include 8GM40 and 8GM50 planetary designs with one- or two-stage configurations and selectable ratios (for example i = 3…10 in one stage and up to i = 100 in two stages), with the larger gearhead intended for higher radial/axial loading. Standard protection is IP54, with integration options such as a 24 VDC holding brake, smooth or keyed output shafts, and either a swivel connector arrangement or a single-cable hybrid connection with EMC-shielded connectors.
