The Danfoss ADAP-KOOL AKD Adaptive Cooling Drives are frequency converters designed for refrigeration applications with commissioning tools and terminology aimed at refrigeration engineers.
A built-in setup “wizard” guides configuration for common cooling tasks such as compressors, condenser fans, and pumps, with options to run using internal PID control or an external reference signal. The series uses a common local control panel interface across a wide power range and includes an information/help function that provides parameter guidance directly from the keypad. Hardware and installation flexibility are built in, with factory-configurable options (including retrofit-capable modules), integrated RFI filtering, and enclosure choices that can eliminate the need for an external cabinet in many installations. Electrically, the drives support three-phase mains classes (e.g., 200–240 VAC or 380–500 VAC variants), provide adjustable output frequency and ramp functions, and include protection/monitoring features such as motor thermal protection and heatsink temperature supervision for reliable operation in continuous-duty cooling systems.
