The BX Bus Terminal Controllers series is a Beckhoff family of stand-alone controllers positioned between the BC series Bus Terminal Controllers and the CX1000 Embedded PC, combining larger memory capacity with expanded interface options for more complex decentralized automation tasks.
Each controller integrates an IEC 61131-3 programmable PLC, a connection to a higher-level communication network, and a K-bus interface for Beckhoff Bus Terminals, allowing a modular mix of digital and analog I/O to be built around the controller. Standard hardware features across the series include two serial interfaces, an illuminated two-line LC display with joystick operation, a real-time clock, and support for Beckhoff Smart System Bus peripherals. The series was offered in variants for major communication systems including PROFIBUS DP, CANopen, DeviceNet, serial RS232/RS485, and Ethernet with ModbusTCP and ADS communication. Program creation, parameterization, and system configuration are handled through TwinCAT, with support for linking PLC, fieldbus, K-bus, and controller functions into compact distributed control stations.
