Product Description:
The AX5112-0000-0202 is a single-axis drive module from Beckhoff’s AX Digital Servo Drives series. It is intended to control synchronous or induction motors in automated machinery, supplying regulated power and collecting real-time feedback so that position, speed, and torque loops stay aligned with the machine controller. This arrangement supports accurate motion in packaging systems, handling equipment, and other automated installations that rely on coordinated axis control. By integrating power electronics and high-speed I/O into one housing, the unit streamlines cabinet layouts and supports straightforward integration in distributed motion systems.
During operation, the drive draws power from a three-phase line and can deliver an apparent power of 8.3 kVA at 400 V. Its continuous motor feed is supported by a nominal output current of 12 A, while short acceleration bursts can reach a peak of 26 A. Energy is buffered in a DC link that holds 1175 µF of capacitance and can rise to 875 VDC before protective shutdown. Regenerated energy from overhauling loads is dissipated internally, and the brake resistor has a momentary absorption capability of 26 kW. Conversion losses amount to 160 W under rated load and are removed by the integrated cooling channel. The drive connects to field wiring through one power channel, accepts eight digital inputs for local interlocks, and occupies 232 mm of cabinet depth.
The control section exchanges position and status data every 250 µs, matching rapid cycle times in modern PLCs and helping the axis respond quickly to command changes. External brake choppers may be added when regenerative demands exceed the internal limit; in that case, the unit can route up to 23.5 kW into a resistor network no smaller than 30 Ω. A width of 185 mm permits side-by-side mounting with other AX modules, which helps conserve cabinet space in multi-axis installations. The housing also supports compact layouts where several motion components must fit within a limited enclosure footprint.
