The CX5020-0122 industrial PC is from the class of embedded PCs that are widely used in machine construction and plant engineering/maintenance applications. The CX5020-0122 uses the Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 2009** operating system, and the TwinCAT 2 PLC runtime and TwinCAT 2 NC PTP runtime software for its main operations. This IPC is constructed using magnesium metal because of magnesium’s lightweight and superior structural properties.

The system is powered by the Intel Atom® Z530 processor that features hyperthreading and allows the system to utilize two additional virtual cores. For ease of user operation, Beckhoff has provided multiple diagnostic LEDs in its IPCs. This model comes with power, flash access, a TC status, flash access, and two bus status lights. The PC’s shock resistance conforms to EN 60068-2-6/EN 60068-2-2 and it has a weight of just about 0.575 kg. The system also comes with an internal clock that is battery operated.
