The P6 Combivert Pitch Drives series is a family of drive controllers developed for wind turbine pitch systems, where the inverter actively adjusts rotor blade position to control turbine speed and output power.
The series is designed to control induction, synchronous, and DC motors and combines core pitch-drive functions in one unit, including integrated braking hardware, charging and monitoring of backup energy storage, motor-brake control, and two encoder interfaces for motor and blade feedback. A key function of the platform is safety-run operation during mains failure or turbine fault conditions, using connected batteries or ultracapacitors so the blades can still be moved to a protective position when external power is lost. The control architecture also includes an onboard PLC, digital and analog I/O, relay output, motor temperature monitoring, and fieldbus connectivity for integration into turbine control systems. The P6 Combivert Pitch Drives series is built for demanding installation conditions with integrated EMC filtering, high vibration resistance, through-panel heat-sink mounting, monitored temperature-controlled fans, and operating characteristics suited for wind-energy environments.
