Product Description:

The DKC06.3-100-7-FW is an EcoDrive digital drive controller built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DKC Drive Controllers series. The module conditions incoming power and converts DC-bus energy into regulated three-phase output for synchronous or asynchronous motors. Acting as the interface between a plant PLC and a servo axis, it supervises current, monitors motor feedback, and supports dynamic braking during positioning and speed control. This makes it suitable for packaging machines, material-handling equipment, and compact machining systems that require controlled motor response across repeated duty cycles.

During startup, the control circuit accepts a 24 V supply, draws 4.0 A of inrush current for 12 ms, and then settles at 26 W. A 200 nF coupling capacitance routes switching noise to the chassis to reduce electrical interference. The DC bus operates at 700 V and uses 0.675 mF of capacitance for short-term energy storage and recycling. The drive delivers 100 A of motor current for both rated and peak output, and its output reaches 400 Hz at a 4 kHz switching frequency or 800 Hz when the carrier is raised to 8 kHz. Semiconductor losses total 420 W, so the IP20 housing requires forced cabinet airflow, and the unit is design 3 with design version 3 and internal series 06.

The housing measures 105 mm wide, 360 mm high, and 261 mm deep, with a mass of 9.7 kg. Cabinet installation requires 80 mm of clearance below the unit and 150 mm above it, while ambient air can reach 45 °C at nominal output or 55 °C with derating. Regenerated energy is dissipated as much as 31 kWs through a braking network that includes a 24 Ω soft-start resistor rated at 0.5 kW and a 6 Ω Zks resistor. The enclosure is rated IP20, so the drive must be installed inside a protected cabinet where airflow and spacing can be maintained.

Fault / error code

What it means

Corrective action

F218 — Amplifier heatsink over-temperature

The power-stage heatsink has exceeded its shutdown limit and the drive turns itself off

Let the unit cool, clear dust, restore cabinet airflow, replace failed fan or add forced ventilation

F219 — Motor over-temperature

Stator PTC has tripped at ≈ 155 °C, signalling that the motor is too hot

Reduce mechanical load/duty cycle, check ambient ≤ 40 °C, verify temperature-sensor wiring

F220 — Bleeder-resistor overload

Dynamic-braking resistor overheated during regeneration

Lengthen decel ramps, install larger or fan-cooled resistor, re-torque wiring

F221 — Motor-temperature surveillance defective

Temp-sensor circuit open or short

Megger MT+/MT– leads, repair cable, replace sensor if resistance is out of spec

F226 — DC-bus undervoltage

Link voltage fell below minimum limit while drive was enabled

Check mains fuses and supply wiring, look for brown-outs, test DC-link capacitors

F228 — Excessive position/velocity deviation

Command–actual difference exceeded monitoring window S-0-0159

Re-reference axis, tighten couplings, review accel/torque limits and tuning

F229 — Encoder 1 quadrant error

Motor-encoder signals invalid (noise, cable fault, contamination)

Inspect feedback cable & shield, clean resolver/optical disk, reroute cabling

F230 — Encoder 1 max-frequency exceeded

Hiperface/RSF signal above interface limit (overspeed or noise)

Verify speed parameters, check for runaway axis, improve shielding or replace cable

F234 — Emergency-stop activated

+24 V removed at E-Stop input – drive performed controlled stop

Trace E-Stop chain, reset safety relay, restore 24 V control voltage, clear fault

F401 — Double MST (SERCOS) communication loss

Two consecutive master-sync telegrams were missed, so the drive halted

Clean fibre-optic connectors, keep total attenuation < 12.5 dB, reseat transceivers
