The 8V1320.001-2 is an AC servo inverter manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8V1 ACOPOS Servo Drives series. It converts the shared DC bus voltage into three-phase waveforms whose amplitude and phase are controlled by the machine controller, thereby regulating the speed and torque of connected servomotors. The module is installed in control cabinets for packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and material-handling systems where precise, closed-loop motion is required.
Within its thermal limits, the drive supplies a continuous phase current of 34 Aeff, while it can deliver transient load peaks of up to 80 Aeff for rapid acceleration. The power stage supports up to 16 kW of mechanical output, making it suitable for midsize rotary or linear axes. Pulse-width modulation operates at a nominal carrier frequency of 10 kHz, and the inverter can synthesize fundamental frequencies as high as 598 Hz to keep high-speed spindles under vector control. The IP20 enclosure permits filtered cabinet airflow rather than providing a fully sealed housing. Additional operating limits include a 13 A starting current and a DC bus that engages above 455 VDC. The unit also has an internal capacitance of 1,645 µF and requires a braking resistor with a minimum resistance of 15 Ω for excess energy dissipation.
A separate logic rail is stabilized by 40,000 µF of input capacitance at 24 V, helping prevent control dropouts during supply dips. This rail also powers the 1.5 A brake output used to release holding brakes. Line protection is provided by a 12 A fast-acting fuse, and the front end accepts feeder capacities up to 30 kVA without nuisance trips. Motor cables may run up to 25 m while maintaining drive integrity and electromagnetic compatibility.
