NEXTSTEP Microstepping Drives are single-axis stepper motor drives designed for compact cabinet mounting, using an internal cooling tunnel that keeps the electronics cool and clean while allowing drives to be stacked side-by-side to save panel space.
They operate from standard 120 VAC or 240 VAC single-phase line power and accept step-and-direction commands, with an optional CW/CCW step input configuration. The drive provides eight selectable microstep resolutions up to 50,000 steps per revolution (with additional low-resolution options available) and uses features such as an auto-adjusting current loop and anti-resonance circuitry to improve usable torque and smoothness across the speed range. Electrical capability differs by line version, with a 160 VDC bus and adjustable motor current up to 7.9 A on the 120 VAC model, and a 320 VDC bus with adjustable motor current up to 3.9 A on the 240 VAC model, plus a built-in regenerative circuit to safely dissipate energy from large inertial loads. For setup and troubleshooting, the drive includes descriptive status/diagnostic LED indications and protection functions that disable the amplifier under conditions such as short circuit, under-voltage, over-temperature, interlock faults, and over-voltage/regeneration events.
