The AKM22E-ESCNR-02 is a synchronous type servo motor. It has been designed and manufactured by Kollmorgen. It is a brushless DC motor of the AKM series. These motors are designed to be operated with controlled torque and / or speed. The driving and controlling force of AKM motors are servo amplifiers. The servo amplifiers used in for AKM motors are found in the SERVOSTAR series. AKM series motors are designed to meet the increasing demand of brushless DC motors in industries where servo applications are required. AKM motors along with SERVOSTAR servo amplifiers make an ideal combination to be used in any industry which needs positioning control, such as machine tools and packaging industry. When these are operated together, a closed loop is formed for torque or speed control.

The AKM22E-ESCNR-02 is equipped with a special shaft. The flange size of this motor is 58 mm. IP65 protection is available for this motor. This motor’s connector has a shielded cable of 0.5 m length. Holding brakes are not installed in this model of AKM motors. During operation, minimum distance between the power cable and control cable must be 20 cm. The larger separation protects the system from EM interference. The cables that are used to operated this motor must be in compliance with EN 60204.

The AKM22E-ESCNR-02 can run at a rated speed of 1,000 to 8,000 rpms depending upon the mains voltage. When motor is standstill, its torque and current ratings are 0.87 Nm and 2.73 A. Maximum torque that this motor can deliver is 2.76 Nm. Moment of inertia of rotor is 0.16 J. Up to 60 N of axial load is allowed at shaft when motor is running at 5000 rpm.
