X90 Mobile Controllers

The B&R X90 Mobile Controllers are rugged, scalable control units intended for mobile and outdoor automation where decentralized control must withstand harsh environmental conditions and heavy mechanical stress.

They are built in a die-cast aluminum housing that also functions as a heat sink and the platform is specified with all-around IP69K protection, supporting housing surface temperatures from -40 to 85 °C when installed correctly and with unused connectors protected. For networking and integration, the controllers include standard CAN bus, Ethernet, and USB interfaces, and they can add a POWERLINK interface for hard real-time communication, with cycle times down to 400 µs used for demanding control tasks. The controller concept supports modular expansion via internal option-board slots for additional interfaces and multifunction I/O modules, with slot-based assignment so the application software can remain consistent across hardware variants and later expansions. Safety and service behavior are defined for industrial use: safety variants incorporate SafeLOGIC capability for safety-related control up to SIL 2, diagnostics are supported through LED status indication and software-accessible status/diagnostic data, and the devices are maintenance-free, not user-serviceable, and must be replaced if defective.
