The Pacific Scientific SC450 series are microprocessor-based, stand-alone brushless servo controllers designed to run 3-phase permanent-magnet brushless servomotors and provide four-quadrant control of a single motor.
The series includes three functionally equivalent models differentiated by peak power capability—SC451 (1000 W), SC452 (2000 W), and SC453 (4500 W). Motion and I/O behavior can be implemented using the built-in ServoBASIC environment, with non-volatile memory used to retain parameters and motion profiles after power removal. For feedback and commutation, the SC450 supports resolver-based control using a single motor-mounted resolver to supply commutation plus digital velocity and position feedback signals. Integration features include transformerless direct 115/230 VAC line operation, RS-232 or RS-485 serial communications for programming/host control, programmable discrete I/O, and an isolated output stage intended to improve reliability and reduce ground-loop disturbances in industrial applications such as packaging, labeling, machine tools, X-Y tables, robotics, and wafer spinners.
