This Pacific Scientific SC453-804-05 servo controller supports position control up to 100,000,000 steps with a resolution of 4096 steps per revolution and 15 arcmin accuracy. The speed control is supported from 0 to 10,000 rpm with a fine resolution of 0.01 rpm. The acceleration and deceleration range spans from 3 to 1,000,000 rpm/second, resolved at 3 rpm/second. The torque is controlled from 0 % to 100 % of peak current using a potentiometer. The non volatile memory allows 10,000 write operations for storing settings. The input commands such as Jog+, Jog– and Start/Stop are sampled every 1.024 milliseconds. The mechanical home switch and position loop update also operate at a 1.024-millisecond period. The device communicates via RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces with selectable baud rates including 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600. It uses 10 bit data format (8 data, 1 start, 1 stop) with no parity. The input voltage of the controller include 115/230 VAC (± 10 %, – 15 %), supporting single or three phase systems at 47 – 63 Hz.
The bus voltage of the SC453-804-05 servo controller is 320 VDC for 230 VAC input and 160 VDC for 115 VAC input. The efficiency of this model is over 90 % at rated continuous power.
