Product Description

The P21NSXS-LSS-M1-02 is an Industrial-Grade Stepper Motor made by Pacific Scientific, who is now owned by now Kollmorgen. This model is designed to operate with a DC source, and it has 2 phases. The P21NSXS-LSS-M1-02 motor is well-suited for a variety of applications. Just like other stepper motors, this model is often considered for applications where holding torque is preferred over velocity. The magnetic field produced in this motor keeps the rotor stuck at the commanded position. When a stepper motor is energized, it becomes unable to hold its position. This motor requires a nominal voltage of 65 VDC to operate and can be sourced by a redundant power supply or an emergency supply.

The power connector incorporated in this model is a standard, 8-pin connector. You can acquire specially designed cables for motor power separately. The offered configuration of the P21NSXS motor has no feedback encoder installed. However, that M1 in the encoder option field of the configuration code is indicating that this motor has at least one encoder mounting provision available. In advanced control applications, limit switches and encoders are used to provide the motor controller with vital information about the current state of the motor`s shaft. So, consider acquiring an encoder separately if you are constructing a complicated motion control system.

The P21NSXS-LSS-M1-02 is a general-purpose motor and it can be coupled with a variety of transmission devices. The higher torque rating of this model makes it capable of operating as a direct drive also. In a direct drive configuration, the motor is attached to the machine directly through a flexible coupling, eliminating the need for belts, pulleys, and gears. the P21NSXS-LSS-M1-02 comes featured with an extended shaft – a feature that can be used for connecting additional hardware with this motor.
