Absolute Encoders

The Absolute Encoders series is a family of shaft-position feedback devices designed to provide a unique output value for each resolvable shaft position, allowing true machine position to remain known after power interruption or in electrically noisy environments without requiring a reference return.

The series includes both single-turn and multi-turn versions, with single-turn resolution reaching 14 bits and multi-turn models extending position tracking across as many as 4096 shaft rotations. Depending on the version, interface options include parallel binary or Gray code output as well as bus-based communication through DeviceNet, Profibus, or Interbus. The mechanical platform uses a 58 mm housing with either a 6 mm servo-mount shaft or a 10 mm face-mount shaft, and it is rated for operation up to 6000 rpm with IP67 environmental protection. The Absolute Encoders series is suited for machine position control applications that require exact position feedback, short-circuit-protected outputs, and interface-specific functions such as direction control, scaling, preset, or latched position handling.
