The Kollmorgen Goldline series of standard servo motors, for example, features co-engineered options, operates with a wide range of input voltages, and employs a permanent magnet design that helps the motors to deliver a high power density and torque.

The M-405-B-A3 is a Kollmorgen servo motor with a rated horsepower rating of 4.5 HP, a rated apparent power of 3.4 kilowatts, and rated speed of 2500 revolutions per minute. The Kollmorgen Goldline series of motors is designed to be interfaced with the Kollmorgen ServoStar digital amplifier in order to reach optimal performance. A combination of the Goldline servo motor with a ServoStar amplifier makes use of Kollmorgens patented phase angle advance algorithm. Since Kollmorgen adheres to international standards, the motor and drive are recognized by the Underwriters Laboratories. The M-405-B-A3 belongs to the M series family of Goldline motors. Motors in this family have a medium inertia and suitable for use in systems that have larger inertia mismatches or compliant loads. Kollmorgen’s medium inertia Goldline motors have a square frame of between 2.76 inches and 7.48 inches.

The M-405-B-A3 features a resolver feedback, is part of the class H insulation, a rear shaft extension, and a built-in thermostat. Options available with medium inertia Goldline servo motors include front mounted gearheads, NEMA mountings, mating connectors, and fail-safe break. The M-405-B-A3 has a torque rating of 13.3 N-m at an ambient temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and 14.1 N-m at a surrounding temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. The motor has bayonet type MS connector together with mating plugs to enable easy interfacing with Kollmorgen amplifiers.
