VLT 8000 Aqua Drives

The VLT 8000 Aqua Drives are designed with water and wastewater services forward facing, though they also handle other pumping applications.

Power ratings run from 1.1 kW all the way up to 400 kW (that's 1.5 HP to 600 HP), split across three voltage ranges: 200-240V, 380-480V, and 525-600V models. What sets these apart is the Automatic Energy Optimization function that ships as the default setting. Instead of manually calculating voltage-to-frequency curves for different loads, the drive figures this out automatically based on what the motor's doing. Performance-wise, they'll deliver 110% starting torque for a full minute, with overload capability hitting 110% as well. The displacement factor stays above 0.98, while power factor runs around 0.90 at rated load. Operating temperature limits vary by enclosure type, ranging from 0°C to 45°C depending on which model and housing combination is selected. Each drive has a built-in PID controller, which simplifies installation for pressure regulation setups. The series handles both constant torque and variable torque loads - water pumps, sludge pumps, dosing equipment, aeration blowers, irrigation systems, and similar applications. Communication starts with standard RS 485 using FC protocol, but optional cards add Profibus, LonWorks, DeviceNet, and Modbus RTU connectivity.
