The MSD Permanent Magnet Motors from Bosch Rexroth Indramat are synchronous direct-drive motors intended for converter operation in industrial machines where the motor is installed as part of the axis.
The series is offered with different motor designs and connection concepts (connectors or terminal boxes) and, depending on variant, can provide protection levels ranging up to a sealed IP65 housing. Thermal management is supported through multiple cooling concepts, including liquid-cooled designs that must run on a closed coolant circuit with a heat exchanger, as well as self-cooled versions for simpler installations. For motion control integration, MSD motors are used with a motor feedback system and can be supplied with a holding brake option, with the motor’s identification and key electrical/mechanical ratings provided on the accompanying type plate for the stator. The insulation system is designed for inverter duty, and when operated on non-Rexroth controllers the installation must still keep pulse voltage rise characteristics within defined limits at the motor terminals to avoid overstressing the winding insulation.
