The HLB resistor brake unit series is an accessory brake module for Bosch Rexroth drive systems that is added to increase the system’s continuous and peak regenerative braking capability.
When installed, the unit also enables a DC bus short-circuit braking function, which allows connected synchronous motors to be braked even during a power failure. The series is offers energy absorption classes of 100 kWs and 500 kWs. For braking power, the units are specified with a time-limited braking power rating (1 kW or 2 kW depending on type) and a maximum braking power capability of 100 kW. Mechanical integration differs by type, with compact module dimensions that range from roughly 65 mm wide (352 mm high) to 100 mm wide (440 mm high), supporting cabinet-mounted installations.
